Edward Nelson (1932-2014) was an American mathematician known for his work in dynamical systems, Brownian motion, mathematical physics and mathematical logic. In the 1970s, Nelson introduced Internal Set Theory (IST), an axiomatic approach to Robinson's mathematics for analysis with infinitesimals. The theory SPOT is a subtheory of IST. Further details on Nelson can be found in article 15c.
