Research Statement

Determining Subgroups of Finite Index

Found an algorithm for determining the subgroups of finite index in a finitely generated groups.  Work begun after high school at the Bureau of Standards and continued at the Rechenzentrum under Prof. J. Neubueser. Completed by Anze Dietze.

Main paper:  2. Determining subgroups of finite index in a finitely generated group, Canad. J. Math (Google Scholar cite 27).

Deformations of Algebraic Schemes

Showed that under certain dimension conditions, determinantal schemes had non-singular deformation, solving, in particular, an open question about space curves.

Main paper: 3. Deformations of Cohen-Macaulay schemes of codimension 2, and non-singular deformations of space curves, Amer. J. Math. (GS cite 72).

Other papers: 1, 4,6,7, 8, 11, 14
